Arthur Delaney The Protest is an unusual image for the artist as he was best known for his Manchester city scenes with Trams and in this image, he captures a moment in time when people took to the streets in protest of a lack of jobs for Lancashire Workers. This piece shows that although many things have changed in society, the urge of the public to speak out about perceived injustice is as strong today as it was when this painting was made.
