Joe Tilson Alcheringa 1 Fire

    Joe Tilson Alcheringa 1 Fire

    1971,
Screenprint and collage on Japanese paper,
    Edition of 70,
    98 x 67 cm

Joe Tilson Alcheringa 1 Fire is part of a series of four screenprints by Tilson based around the four elements, this represents Fire, the others: Earth, Air, and Water. It's a very unusual piece in terms of printmaking due to Tilson utilising collage in the print, and when viewed, the pieces and parts of this beautiful work of art really stand out. Alchera is a word that means the “Dreamtime in Australian Aboriginal Magic”. This print tackles many themes but runs strong with the esoteric and alchemical.
